  • Hi there!

We are Becca and Matthew and we'd like to welcome you to The Studio B Photography!

We love eating sushi, taking naps, playing with our dog, and being sarcastic.

We are a team in the truest sense of the word and being husband and wife allows us to work together with an unmatched sense of understanding.

We are vendors who strive to make your wedding day easier, not more complicated. We have driven get away cars, made bouquets and even found lost wedding bands.

We are there to make sure that not only do you have beautiful pictures from your wedding day, but that you are actually able to enjoy it.

We'd be honored to be there on your wedding day and tell the story of your love through our images.

Mailbox Dino in March

I am proud to present to you the best picture of Mailbox Dino yet! (if you’ve missed his previous blog appearances, you can see him here and here)

This is his March outfit, which I think is meant as a nod to St. Patrick’s day and perhaps pirates.

There’s something slightly seaworthy about this outfit, don’t you agree?

Matthew and I are nearing the end of the process of buying our first home and seeing Mailbox Dino around the neighborhood is one of the things I’m going to miss about our current place.

We still have great friends in our current area (who have been turned into Mailbox Dino fans as well!) so I’ll still see them frequently.

We’re not moving too far!

I hope the oddness of Mailbox Dino has put a smile on your face!

Have a great day!

XOXO,

B

Engagement Pictures in Atlanta | Jody + Chrissie

The weather this month has been unpredictable and I’m so thankful for my amazing clients who remain cheerful despite rain forcing us to reschedule.

Jody + Chrissie are the perfect example, and once we finally had a sunny day we headed out to The Swan House to begin their engagement session.

Clad in cheerful hues that matched their wedding colors, the pair were a blast to photograph.

After strolling around the grounds at the Swan House for a while, we headed over to The Georgian Terrace.

I don’t know if you’re aware of this or not, but the Georgian Terrace is my favorite hotel in the whole world.

I know that’s a bold statement, but it’s where Matthew proposed to me and it will always have a place in my heart.

Anyhow, getting back on track…

The Georgian Terrace is filled with beautiful spots and it was so much fun photographing this sweet couple in such a lovely location.

The wedding will be held at the Fox Theater later this year, which just so happens to be right across the street from the hotel.

Jody + Chrissie, I had a wonderful time at the engagement session and can’t wait for the big day!

XOXO,

B

Little Things | The iPad + Apps

I’m surely not the first person you’ve heard sing the praises of the iPad.  I doubt I’ll be the last.

There’s no arguing that the iPad can be very useful, and serve a multitude of purposes.

For the first several months we had it, I just used it as another way to share our work with clients we were meeting for the first time.

In addition to our sample albums, it’s really a great way to show the variety of weddings we’ve shot.

However, since everyone already knows that an iPad can show off pictures, I thought I’d talk about a few of my favorite apps that don’t have to do with pictures.

Well, at least not my pictures.

A lot of the apps I enjoy do include pretty pictures, and I hope you’ll like them too.

Enjoy the list!

XOXO,

B

Zinio

Ohhh, Zinio, how I adore thee.

You know by now that I love magazines and cookbooks.  Zinio pretty much allows me to combine the two.

It’s an app for reading digital versions of magazines, but since I subscribe to a few cooking magazines, that’s almost like having a cookbook.

IMG 0160 Little Things | The iPad + Apps

You can explore the shop and find magazines in a variety of categories.

You can buy magazines by the issue or get a digital subscription for multiple issues.

photo Little Things | The iPad + Apps

This app is fantastic when you’re traveling because it allows you to “pack” a ton of entertaining reading without weighing you down!

iPad01 Little Things | The iPad + Apps

The latest version of software for the iPad also comes with the Newsstand app, which is very similar to Zinio and lets you download magazines and newspapers.

At this time, the selection of magazines is fairly limited, so if you’re looking for a greater variety of reading material, Zinio is still your best bet.

Newsstand also lets you purchase magazines by the issue or subscribe to multiple issues.

My favorite thing about it is that many magazines give free access to the digital version to those who subscribe to the print version.

Among other benefits, that comes in handy for easy uploading to Pinterest later on!

Real Simple Recipes: No Time to Cook?

I mentioned how much I adore Real Simple in an earlier Little Things post and their cooking app is just another product to love.

photo copy 3 Little Things | The iPad + Apps

If you know what you’re in the mood for and how long you’ll have to prepare dinner, you just plug the info in and recipes that match your needs pop up.

You can also pick the “surprise me” option if you can’t be bothered with deciding what to cook and just want the app to choose!

photo copy 4 Little Things | The iPad + Apps

The steps for making each recipe are laid out in an easy to read format with a timer conveniently located within the app if the step calls for it.

photo copy 5. Little Things | The iPad + Apps

If you’re planning meals for the week, you can just add the recipes you plan to make to the grocery list within the app and it will list everything you need AND organize the list according to the sections of the store.

You can check off the items you already have at home, and just take the app with you to the store and check off the rest!

FYI: This app is also available on the iPhone, in case you’d rather bring your grocery list to the store on a smaller device.

Flipboard

This app is a feast for the eyes! It creates a personalized magazine out of your favorite internet information sources.

You can “flip” through your Facebook newsfeed, tweets from your Twitter timeline, photos from news outlets and much more.

IMG 0162 Little Things | The iPad + Apps
IMG 0163 Little Things | The iPad + Apps

Here’s an album from The Atlantan Brides that was in my Facebook newsfeed.

Coincidentally, one of the photos shows a few of of Fine & Fleurie’s beautiful pieces, as well as her business cards featuring photos from yours truly!

IMG 0165 Little Things | The iPad + Apps

Houzz

Called the “Wikipedia of interior and exterior design” by CNN, Houzz is simultaneously the best and worst thing for a homeowner (or renter!) to discover.

You can browse photos by style, room and location and save them to your virtual idea book.

It’s almost as addicting as Pinterest, and a great source to find new things to pin!

The Weather Channel

While a slightly nerdy choice of essential apps, The Weather Channel app comes in handy all the time.

It helps me figure out the best time to schedule a photo shoot, by showing me the sunrise and sunset times.

It also helps me keep track of the weather on an hourly basis, which lets me know if I’ll need to reschedule a shoot due to rain.

What is Pinterest? | Using Pinterest For Weddings

Part of being a wedding photographer is being a nerd.  Are you surprised?

Between constantly changing camera equipment, fresh new computer gear and keeping up with what’s going on in social media, being nerdy comes in handy!

A lot of photographers are also early adopters, which means that when new things come out, we feel compelled to be the first ones to try it.

Such was the case with Pinterest, which has recently become a social media sensation and now everyone wants to know how to use it.

Last year I wrote a post explaining what Pinterest is, how it works, and what I use it for personally.

At the time, Pinterest wasn’t nearly as popular as it is now, so I thought it would be helpful to revisit the subject again and give you ideas on how to make the site work for you!

First up is my top ten list of accounts to follow to use Pinterest for weddings.

Below you’ll find wedding planning inspiration from magazines, blogs and more!

As you pin and plan, you can make boards for as many separate categories as you need.

For example, you could have boards for wedding + bridal party attire ideas, ceremony ideas, and reception ideas.

Or you could break things down element by element and have separate boards for invitations, makeup styles, hairstyles, wedding dresses, bridesmaids dresses, bouquets, centerpieces, aisle decor, color schemes, escort cards…the possibilities are endless!

The best part about it is you get organize things in a way that make sense to you!

Pinterest is still an invitation only site, so if you need a Pinterest invite, leave a comment below with your email address and I’ll send one over right away!

If you’re already on Pinterest, you can follow me right here.

If you have any questions on the best ways to use Pinterest to plan your wedding, just let me know- I’m here to help.

I hope you enjoy the list I’ve put together for you!

XOXO,

B
