The Studio B Photography Blog: Atlanta Wedding and Portrait Photography bio picture

hello and welcome!

Name(s): Rebecca Enslein.  Most people call me Becca, so feel free to follow suit.  If you're curious, that's where the "B" in The Studio B comes from.  My husband Matthew is my partner in the business as well as in real life.  He's my second shooter, my sounding board, and my best friend (cheesy but TRUE!)

That's us on the left on our wedding day.  We chose to see each other before the ceremony so we could get better pictures together and it was the best idea!  We were so happy to see each other, and our pictures came out amazingly because we had enough time to take them and weren't rushed.

Camera Brand of Choice: I'm a Nikon shooter, tried and true. As I like to say, they're sturdy and purdy. :)

Favorite Place Traveled to: Spain.  The whole country is fantastic.  I studied there for a summer and it was the best experience of my life.  I came back to the States with tons of pictures, great memories, cute clothes and an amazing (American) boyfriend.  The boyfriend is now my husband!

Favorite Food: McDonald's french fries.  I delight in their greasy goodness.

Favorite Movie: Ace Ventura Pet Detective.  Old school Jim Carrey is the best!  My parents were pretty strict when I was younger (the joys of only childhood) and I remember it was the first PG-13 movie I ever saw.  My dad took me without telling my mom, and said I could see it because it was filmed in Miami (where we lived at the time) and that made it okay.

Why Photography? I think that photographs have always been a big part of my life. Growing up, my parents didn't have a video camera, so my childhood was documented entirely by film.  We have tons of albums full of great pictures, and I still look through them.  I think there is something so timeless about a fantastic photo that can bring you back to a second you might have otherwise forgotten.

While I appreciate the value of videotaping your daughter's first dance recital so you can show it to Grandparents, neighbors, mailman...I think it's magical to be able to freeze the moment when she is waiting in the wings of the stage in her tutu biting her nails while simultaneously looking excited and nervous.

That's what makes photography so exciting for me.  I like the challenge of getting a shot that in a split second can show you exactly who a person is, whether they are 5 or 105.  My Grandmother recently passed away at age 97, and in the last year of her life I was fortunate enough to make two trips to see her and take her picture.  Our family now has a wonderful collection of pictures of her that we will cherish forever.

What makes me different than most wedding photographers: As a newlywed, and a woman at that stage in life where *everyone* I know is getting married (yes, I've done bridesmaid duty too) I can easily relate to brides.  I KNOW that finalizing a guest list stinks, and that a budget can only stretch so far.  Especially in today's shaky economy, I try to offer my clients reasonable prices so that everyone can afford to have pictures they love.  If you're dying to have us do your wedding (and we sure hope you are!!) but are a bit tight on cash, shoot us a message and we'll try to work something out.  Once your dress is hung up in the closet and his tux is returned, your pictures are the only tangible things you have left of your wedding day.  We'd love to be there to capture the moments that will make you smile for years to come.

Favorite Photo Moment: While studying in Spain my husband and I took a spontaneous (we booked the flight 23 hours before we left!!) trip to Rome for the weekend.  We got there in the evening and the owner of the bed and breakfast where we stayed gave us a map of the city and circled the places that were better to visit at night.  Trevi Fountain was on the list, and by the time we got there it was close to two in the morning.  There were still people there!  We threw coins in the fountain and sat and people watched for a while.  Before we left to go back to the hotel, we snapped a few self shots of us kissing at the top of the stairs leading to the fountain.  The flash was off, the picture is decently blurry, but I adore it.  We said "I love you" for the first time the next day, and less than two years later, we're married!

New Year…New Albums! | Atlanta Wedding Photographer

2010 is off to a wonderful start for The Studio B Photography!  I spent a lot of time at the beginning of January preparing for the Bridal Extravaganza of Atlanta, the first bridal show I ever participated in.  My dear friend and former bride, Kristin came down from Charlotte, NC to help Matthew and I meet and greet all the wonderful girls that came to the show.

I even baked home made cookies for the occasion, and those of you who know me well know that I don’t cook.  I bought wedding themed cookie cutters, with a bride, a groom, a wedding cake, and an engagement ring.  Of course, once they were done baking…the wedding cakes looked like Christmas trees, the engagement rings looked like pineapples, and the bride and groom looked like Quasimodo and their heads kept falling off.  No, I did not take pictures, so you’ll have to use your imagination.

We decorated the booth with a photo wall comprised of 18 20×20 square prints.  A picture of our booth was featured on the show’s facebook page, and that is the only one I have.  Once the brides started coming in, there was no stopping them and I spent all my time talking to them instead of taking pictures :)

One of the things we decided to do while at the show was give away free wedding photography to one lucky bride and groom.  A few days after the show we picked a name out of a hat and the winners were Alisha and Brantley of Dublin, Georgia!  They are the sweetest couple you’ll ever meet AND they met while going to school at Mercer University, just like Matthew and I!  It was meant to be!  We’re so excited to shoot their wedding this June in Dublin and know that it is going to be gorgeous!

Another one of the things we did at The Bridal Extravaganza of Atlanta was debut several of our new albums.  We showed a few of our classic albums and then I had one funky one that I had designed especially for the show.  I thought it would be a great idea to have a whole blog post dedicated to pictures of the albums that we offer so that when brides are looking at our different wedding collections they can see the type of album they’d be getting.

The big momma!  This is the 12×12 album and I love it!

It features a metal cameo on the front cover as well as a contrasting stripe for a little bit extra WOW factor.

The thick pages make sure that this album will be around for generations to come.

No need to worry about pictures getting damaged over time or falling out of an album.  They are printed right on the page.

The album lies flat, which allows for uninterrupted panoramic layouts like these.
