The Studio B Photography Blog: Atlanta Wedding and Portrait Photography bio picture

hello and welcome!

Name(s): Rebecca Enslein.  Most people call me Becca, so feel free to follow suit.  If you're curious, that's where the "B" in The Studio B comes from.  My husband Matthew is my partner in the business as well as in real life.  He's my second shooter, my sounding board, and my best friend (cheesy but TRUE!)

That's us on the left on our wedding day.  We chose to see each other before the ceremony so we could get better pictures together and it was the best idea!  We were so happy to see each other, and our pictures came out amazingly because we had enough time to take them and weren't rushed.

Camera Brand of Choice: I'm a Nikon shooter, tried and true. As I like to say, they're sturdy and purdy. :)

Favorite Place Traveled to: Spain.  The whole country is fantastic.  I studied there for a summer and it was the best experience of my life.  I came back to the States with tons of pictures, great memories, cute clothes and an amazing (American) boyfriend.  The boyfriend is now my husband!

Favorite Food: McDonald's french fries.  I delight in their greasy goodness.

Favorite Movie: Ace Ventura Pet Detective.  Old school Jim Carrey is the best!  My parents were pretty strict when I was younger (the joys of only childhood) and I remember it was the first PG-13 movie I ever saw.  My dad took me without telling my mom, and said I could see it because it was filmed in Miami (where we lived at the time) and that made it okay.

Why Photography? I think that photographs have always been a big part of my life. Growing up, my parents didn't have a video camera, so my childhood was documented entirely by film.  We have tons of albums full of great pictures, and I still look through them.  I think there is something so timeless about a fantastic photo that can bring you back to a second you might have otherwise forgotten.

While I appreciate the value of videotaping your daughter's first dance recital so you can show it to Grandparents, neighbors, mailman...I think it's magical to be able to freeze the moment when she is waiting in the wings of the stage in her tutu biting her nails while simultaneously looking excited and nervous.

That's what makes photography so exciting for me.  I like the challenge of getting a shot that in a split second can show you exactly who a person is, whether they are 5 or 105.  My Grandmother recently passed away at age 97, and in the last year of her life I was fortunate enough to make two trips to see her and take her picture.  Our family now has a wonderful collection of pictures of her that we will cherish forever.

What makes me different than most wedding photographers: As a newlywed, and a woman at that stage in life where *everyone* I know is getting married (yes, I've done bridesmaid duty too) I can easily relate to brides.  I KNOW that finalizing a guest list stinks, and that a budget can only stretch so far.  Especially in today's shaky economy, I try to offer my clients reasonable prices so that everyone can afford to have pictures they love.  If you're dying to have us do your wedding (and we sure hope you are!!) but are a bit tight on cash, shoot us a message and we'll try to work something out.  Once your dress is hung up in the closet and his tux is returned, your pictures are the only tangible things you have left of your wedding day.  We'd love to be there to capture the moments that will make you smile for years to come.

Favorite Photo Moment: While studying in Spain my husband and I took a spontaneous (we booked the flight 23 hours before we left!!) trip to Rome for the weekend.  We got there in the evening and the owner of the bed and breakfast where we stayed gave us a map of the city and circled the places that were better to visit at night.  Trevi Fountain was on the list, and by the time we got there it was close to two in the morning.  There were still people there!  We threw coins in the fountain and sat and people watched for a while.  Before we left to go back to the hotel, we snapped a few self shots of us kissing at the top of the stairs leading to the fountain.  The flash was off, the picture is decently blurry, but I adore it.  We said "I love you" for the first time the next day, and less than two years later, we're married!

Meet Maccabee: the newest member of the Enslein family

As most of our friends and family know, Matthew and I have been DYING to get a dog.  Matthew grew up with dogs as a kid, and I never had them.  My pet owning experience has been limited to fish and parakeets- hardly the satisfying (although sometimes challenging) relationship that comes with owning a dog....

Rebekah + Jon: Engaged | Atlanta Engagement Photographer

I love my job.  Plain and simple.  It is fantastic.  The best part is when my clients become my friends.  I met Rebekah and Jon for the first time about a month ago when we met up to discuss their wedding pictures.  We chatted over dinner, and made plans to meet up again soon.
We got...

A charming place for a wedding | Atlanta Wedding Venue

Beneath the shade of several trees you can find the Log Cabin Church in Smyrna, Georgia.  It is tucked away on a quiet street, and if it weren’t for its bold red doors, you might miss it.
The church is loaded with old fashioned charm, complete with a wishing well and a bell tower to ring...
