The Studio B Photography Blog: Atlanta Wedding and Portrait Photography bio picture

hello and welcome!

Name(s): Rebecca Enslein.  Most people call me Becca, so feel free to follow suit.  If you're curious, that's where the "B" in The Studio B comes from.  My husband Matthew is my partner in the business as well as in real life.  He's my second shooter, my sounding board, and my best friend (cheesy but TRUE!)

That's us on the left on our wedding day.  We chose to see each other before the ceremony so we could get better pictures together and it was the best idea!  We were so happy to see each other, and our pictures came out amazingly because we had enough time to take them and weren't rushed.

Camera Brand of Choice: I'm a Nikon shooter, tried and true. As I like to say, they're sturdy and purdy. :)

Favorite Place Traveled to: Spain.  The whole country is fantastic.  I studied there for a summer and it was the best experience of my life.  I came back to the States with tons of pictures, great memories, cute clothes and an amazing (American) boyfriend.  The boyfriend is now my husband!

Favorite Food: McDonald's french fries.  I delight in their greasy goodness.

Favorite Movie: Ace Ventura Pet Detective.  Old school Jim Carrey is the best!  My parents were pretty strict when I was younger (the joys of only childhood) and I remember it was the first PG-13 movie I ever saw.  My dad took me without telling my mom, and said I could see it because it was filmed in Miami (where we lived at the time) and that made it okay.

Why Photography? I think that photographs have always been a big part of my life. Growing up, my parents didn't have a video camera, so my childhood was documented entirely by film.  We have tons of albums full of great pictures, and I still look through them.  I think there is something so timeless about a fantastic photo that can bring you back to a second you might have otherwise forgotten.

While I appreciate the value of videotaping your daughter's first dance recital so you can show it to Grandparents, neighbors, mailman...I think it's magical to be able to freeze the moment when she is waiting in the wings of the stage in her tutu biting her nails while simultaneously looking excited and nervous.

That's what makes photography so exciting for me.  I like the challenge of getting a shot that in a split second can show you exactly who a person is, whether they are 5 or 105.  My Grandmother recently passed away at age 97, and in the last year of her life I was fortunate enough to make two trips to see her and take her picture.  Our family now has a wonderful collection of pictures of her that we will cherish forever.

What makes me different than most wedding photographers: As a newlywed, and a woman at that stage in life where *everyone* I know is getting married (yes, I've done bridesmaid duty too) I can easily relate to brides.  I KNOW that finalizing a guest list stinks, and that a budget can only stretch so far.  Especially in today's shaky economy, I try to offer my clients reasonable prices so that everyone can afford to have pictures they love.  If you're dying to have us do your wedding (and we sure hope you are!!) but are a bit tight on cash, shoot us a message and we'll try to work something out.  Once your dress is hung up in the closet and his tux is returned, your pictures are the only tangible things you have left of your wedding day.  We'd love to be there to capture the moments that will make you smile for years to come.

Favorite Photo Moment: While studying in Spain my husband and I took a spontaneous (we booked the flight 23 hours before we left!!) trip to Rome for the weekend.  We got there in the evening and the owner of the bed and breakfast where we stayed gave us a map of the city and circled the places that were better to visit at night.  Trevi Fountain was on the list, and by the time we got there it was close to two in the morning.  There were still people there!  We threw coins in the fountain and sat and people watched for a while.  Before we left to go back to the hotel, we snapped a few self shots of us kissing at the top of the stairs leading to the fountain.  The flash was off, the picture is decently blurry, but I adore it.  We said "I love you" for the first time the next day, and less than two years later, we're married!

Baby Brooklyn! | Macon Baby Photographer

I think I’ve blogged more this March than any month thus far!  I’ve had the time to take pictures lately, and I’ve been loving it!!  The IT guy at our law school contacted me about taking nine month pictures of his darling daughter Brooklyn.  After several days of rain, the skies cleared and we had...

So there’s this dog…

As you know, we’ve been taking care of Matthew’s parent’s dog Bella.  She’s (usually) a very well behaved dog, and she enjoys being a model.  It was a beautiful day out today and we gave her a bath and then sat out for a while enjoying the sun.  I’ve switched editing programs, so I’ve been...

Macon Soapbox Derby

There was a soapbox derby at the end of our street the other day, and it was such a good time!  There was a great turn out, and we had the IT department from the law school enter a car.  The law school car didn’t end up doing so well, but it was still fun...

Almost Cherry Blossom Time…

Every year, Macon hosts the Cherry Blossom festival, which is a huge deal apparently.  I’ve never taken part in the festivities, but the flowers sure are pretty!  My dad was in town this week to celebrate my birthday (my 4th annual 21st birthday for anyone who is curious) and we went to the park by...

Snow!!!

So, as a Florida kid, snow thrills me to no end.  Yes, I understand that it’s inconvenient and all that negative stuff, but it’s also SO COOL!!  I got to drive in the snow for the first time this month, and it was quite an interesting experience.  I was in Atlanta for my bachelorette party,...
